how set ideal mac address on virtual linux machine

Hi

i have a question about mac adress change

i have create a new linux virtual machine| (redhat) now i want to change that mac adress manually  for example i want my mac adress machine change to  : 00:50:56:ac:34:eb   i have changed in ifcfg-eth0 file (/etc/sysconfig/network-script/ifcfg-eth0 ) but when want restart my network service it get fail and can not start

in which files do i have to change my ideal mac adress ?

In VM settings... Using webclient simply edit settings when VM is powered-off and under network adapter change mac address:

You can do the same with windows client.

but if we don't have vcenter and use simple host without vCenter how can change it manually?
