  • 1.  How many Guest OS per product ?

I try to figure out how many Guest OS i can run on the following products :

    - vSphere Essential Kit

    - vSphere Standard

Is there a licence maximum, ore only the hardware limitation ?

With this licences do i really need to buy the vShere Server ?

The Essential Kit is a licence for three servers and up to 6 CPU's

The standard is a licence per CPU.

i'm looking to a stable virtualisation for Guest OS with different functions. vMotion, DSR are not necessary right now. We concentrate on

virtuel machines on servers, connected to a iSCSI storage device.

We want to use MacPro's because we want to virtualise OS X Server Systems.

    This for thinking with me.

There is no license maximum, just the hardware limitation. (although you can't have more than 480 logical cpu's per host and no more than 128 vCPU's per VM and max 1024 VM's per host, see vSphere 6.0 Configuration Maximums).

You can start with the Essentials licenses, and upgrade them to Essentials Plus, Standard or Enterprise when you need more functionality or more hosts.
