  • 1.  How do I un-suspend a VM in vSphere Client?

I  suspended a VM just to see what it does.  Big mistake.  Now I can't press the "pause" button again to unsuspend the VM.  I can't delete the VM of my datastore.  When I search for the files in the datstore browser, it keeps saying "Searching datastore...." and doesn't seem to ever find it.  I don't know if it is because the files have been deleted already and I don't know it or if it can't find the files because the VM has been suspended.   In the summary tab, it says active tasks: suspend virtual machine and in the events tab, it says virtual machine is being suspended.   How do I unsuspend this VM?

    Could anyone please help?  Thanks!

Do you see a "Resume" entry when you right click the VM in the inventory?

No, I don't.  Right clicking the VM on the left bar, I see these options (see attached jpgs.)  No resume entry.. am I looking at the wrong place?

    Thanks.

How do I use a user with administrator privileges?  Note that in my setup, I only have a VMware Hypervisor and the vSphere Client.  I don't have vCenter server.  Dunno if that has anything to do it with, but just in case :smileywink:.  Thanks.

The "Resume" entry should be located as a sub-entry under "Power" in the mneu.

EDIT: Oops, sorry, I missed the first screen shot.

Okay, I exited my vSphere client and then shut down the my hypervisor machine.  When I rebooted the machine and restarted vSphere Client, I was able to delete the strange VM that was previously suspended, but now it says unaccessable in my inventory.  I think it probably had something to do with me trying to delete it, but it was taking a long long time (never completed deleting it actually).  I just kept trying to delete it.  Also was able to delete the VM from datastore, so I think I'm ok.  I just have to be more careful now on...  Thanks for your folks advice.  Strange thing is, I never saw a resume option (see attached screenshots above).

Were you experiencing problems before this happened?

I think I was doing okay with that particular VM, before something possessed me to try the suspend feature.  Curiosity killed the cat. :smileysad:
