HostProfiles and Reference Host -AutoDeploy

Hello All,

Need a very basic understanding about host profiles. I'm doing POC for AutoDeploy.

I have created a host profile using reference host whose name is vESXi502.

Please confirm if vESXi502 must be always up and running so that HostProfile is always accessible?

As I have limited memory on my laptop, I've to switch off vESXi502 and powered on vESXi503.

Host was provisioned but it couldn't apply host profile. It came up the error "Call "HostProfile.RetrieveDescription" for object "hostprofile-201" on vCenter Server "vCenter5.bootclub.com" failed. The reference host vesxi502.bootclub.com associated with the profile is not reachable"

Yes you always need the reference host, but you can which host is the reference host for a profile.

Thanks for your confirmation. So I must conclude there is one more dependency for Auto Deploy to work.
