    Hi All,

I have quite a scenario where my previous Incumbent's have set up a Host in our Satellite site that does not allow for vmotion and I am unable to move any guests off. I have attempted to migrate via directly connecting to the host and attempting to move guests but I always encounter errors.

I was thinking of the possibility of physically disconnecting the Host from the current network Satellite site and plugging directly into the switch that hosts the other 3 hosts, and wondered if this would be feasible, and what I might need to do in order for this approach to work.

The network on the satellite site is 192.168.160 and in HQ we have 2 separate IP networks, 192.168.8, 10.234.109.

If I configure a port on the switch identical to how the current hosts are setup would it just be a case of plugging in a network cable and powering everything on and then attempting to connect via vcenter server?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Anything is feasible, but depends on a whole bunch of variables. Do you have sufficient licences to add the 4th host would be the main blocker? You would need that in order to add it to vCenter and facilitate vMotion.

If you're completely stuck, as a belt and braces approach, you could download the VMs from the Standalone host (using the Host Web UI → Datastore Browser), onto an External HDD, then re-import them into the 3 node cluster and import them into the Inventory, Job done.
