  • 1.  Hitting esc or F2 in bios before boot

Whats the trick here in a situation where the virtual machine passes through the post faster then control can be gained in the console, I don't even see the post!?

I need to get into the bios to change a boot order, and can't do it fast enough to intercept the boot:(

    Thanks

It can help sometime to connect directly to the ESX host with the VI client (assuming you're using virtualcenter). But even with that sometime you just have to reset the VM once you have a console session to get another chance at the bios options. VC 2.5 adds the option to delay the BIOS by the number of seconds you specify or to do directly into the BIOS setup.

    Ritmo2k,

In your VC Server select the Guest you wish to boot into BIOS, right click and "Edit Settings", go to the "Options" tab, then go down to "Boot Options", and check the "The next time the virtual machine boots..." That should do it for you.

Be aware this is a 3.5 only feature.

Think this is only in VC 2.5.
