    Hi All,

I'm really new to ESXi and I'm trying to understand what vCentre and vSphere is and struggling to get my head round them, could anyone help me understand please?

Also, do either offer a free version like ESXi?

    Thanks.

In short, vSphere is the name of the product suite, which contains vCenter Server , and ESXi hosts.

vCenter Server is an instance (deployed as a virtual machine) that can manage multiple ESXi hosts. Please note that this requires paid licenses!

VMware offers a free Hypervisor license for ESXi, which can be used on standalone hosts, that do not need the whole feature set.
