  • 1.  hardware health status not working on hp dl360 g7

    Posted Sep 17, 2014 11:07 AM

We have 2 hp proliant dl360 g7 running the latest esxi 5.5 u2. Both where running 5.0 and then 5.1 and they both had problems with health status trom the begining. HP support always suggested firmware upgrade and OS upgrade. Today i updated to the latest esxi version and also i applied the latest firmware but health status still doesent work reliably. When i restart sfcbd-watchdog service a couple of times then it sometimes starts working for come time, but after i couple of days it stops working again. When i connect to the same servers using the ILO card i can see all sensors and their status, so hw should be OK.

Also since the update  to 5.5 update 2 my nagios plugin which checks the hardware status via port 5989 stopped working on these two servers. It works ok on two other servers also running 5.5 update 2 but on different hardware.

    Thank you

Are you getting an error message when you refresh the hardware status? Please let me know

I don't get an error message on refresh. Sometimes i get an error message when i press "reset sensors".  Reset sensors also always takes a long time (4-5  minutes).

After the upgrade to 5.5 u2 i can't get my nagios plugin to work. No matter how many times i restartsfcbd-watchdog.

Could you please let me know what is the error message you get, while resetting sensors? Is syslog logging an error message?

Please check whether hostd service is running.

Found a similar post. Re: ESXi 5.1 - Health Status Unknown

I think this issue is there with the hardware you are using.

Please have a look @ Re: Hardware status on ESXi 5.0U1 with HP CIM providers needs a sfcbd-watchdog restart for correct functioning

There is a script which will monitor the syslog and will do a restart of sfcbd-watchdog every 30 mins.

May be this will help you.

did you upgrade using vmware image or vendor image?

    use the vendor image.

less problems with health status then i think
