  • 1.  General system error occured XP hot cloning

    While hot cloning win XP home edition I received a warning message stating "Failed while updating drive letters for the target volume layout." Then a failure message "Error: Reconfiguration failed" and "Failure: A General System Error occurred InternalError"

    I have attached the log files

    i have the exact same error, except it's on xp pro

    Hello, I have the same error in W2003 Server.

    There's any solution for this issue?

    I had the same exact error at 95%. VMware Converter is 4.01. Guest OS is Vista. Then the VM does not boot indicating that it can't find files. Error message say's try repairing with OS disc. Tried that and the repair tool indicates that it cannot repair the OS because there is no OS. Then looking at the VM disk via command prompt, several folders did not copy over during the conversion including the system32 folder.

    Seems an error during reconfiguration operation.

    Do you have more OS installed?

    Try to install the standalone version inside the physical machine and lunch the conversion from there.
