  • 1.  FT Between Xeon E3110 (Dell PE T100) & X3430 (Dell PE T110)

    Posted Jun 03, 2011 12:38 AM

    Hi,

I want to ask if anyone has tried to play FT between those 2 CPUs.

I run the laster version of Site Survey 2.52 and confirmed that the Dell PowerEdge T100 server host is ready for FT with all green check marks.

I am thinking to buy a PE T110 which comes with Xeon X3430 for my home lab to play FT.

Or if I can't play FT between T100 and T110 with these 2 different CPUs/Categaries, would it work well to install ESXi as embedded hosts to do FT?

Thank you for any advice in advance. :smileyhappy:

To add some notes, I have noticed the following from KB 1008027, but I am still hoping FT may work between the CPUs.

For VMware FT to  be supported, the servers that host the virtual machines must each use a  supported processor from the same category as documented below:
Intel Xeon based on 45nm Core 2 Microarchitecture Category:
    • 31xx Series
    • 33xx Series
    • 52xx Series (DP)
    • 54xx Series
    • 74xx Series

Intel Xeon based on Core i7 Microarchitecture Categories:

    • Nehalem Series Group (any processor series here can be used):
      • 34xx Series (Lynnfield)*
      • 35xx Series
      • 55xx Series
      • 65xx Series**
      • 75xx Series***
    • Westmere Series Groups (each processor series must be used separately):
      • 34xx Series (Clarkdale)**
      • i3/i5 (Clarkdale)**
      • 36xx Series**
      • 56xx Series**
    AMD 3rd Generation Opteron Category:
