    Hi there,

Looking for answer to this query but couldn't find answers for 30 min googling.

What is the max vCPU that I can assign to a VM on esxi 5 free version?

    Thanks

8 vCPUs can be assigned to a VM using the free version.

I fired one up and added a free licence to it just to verify...

    My 2 Cents

I'm also struggling to find  any docs on this. (I'll ask around)

I know Hypervisor 4.1 was 4 vCPUs, so ESXi 5 Hypervisor will be at least 4 and maybe 8

Keep in mind you have the 32GB Physical Memory limitation

Please award points if you find this helpful/correct :smileywink:

AFAIK,in the ESXi 5 Free version ,you can have 1CPU with max vcpu = 8 with the VM.

Any documentation would be great cause I have to show it to official guys as a POC.

How about by socket? Does it support two cpu sockets or just one?

    Thanks all! really appreciated

    Hi, sorry for re-open

    my question is:

    - i have a server with six core processor with hyperthreading enabled. so, total is: 12 cores.

    - using cpu affinity, can i add proccessor to my vm from 6 to 12 core?. then will be 6 vcpu's assigned.

    - that's my question, if ESXi restrict total core's of physical server.

    Thank you very much.

PD: sorry for my bad english.
