    Posted Feb 18, 2018 08:23 PM

    Hi,

I installed vcenter 6.5 on windows server 2016. HTLM5 based web client works but flash based web client does not open.

I have an external SQL DB with data from previous vcenter 6.0. I can see my hosts and vm's from HTML5 client but i can't add my license key from HTML5 client. Because of this reason can't connect my hosts to new vcenter server. If i can somehow use flash based client, probably i can add my license key and connect my hosts to vcenter server. Is there anyone had this same problem?

What browser are you using? And have you tried multiple?

  • 3.  RE: Flash Based Web Client Stuck on Blue Screen

I am using firefox, chrome and ie. updated flash several times, updated browsers, updated windows. But nothing changes.

What did you mean by saying multiple?

I'm asking if you've tried multiple browsers which it appears you have. If you use Chrome in incognito mode, does the web client load?

Tried it right now and still same. Screenshot attached.

    This is the url: https://vcenterFDQN/vsphere-client/?csp

In chrome, have you whitelisted the address of your vCenter in the Flash settings?

  • 7.  RE: Flash Based Web Client Stuck on Blue Screen

    Posted Feb 18, 2018 09:16 PM

    Yes, i did.

  • 8.  RE: Flash Based Web Client Stuck on Blue Screen

    Posted Feb 18, 2018 09:23 PM

Try the URL without ?csp at the end.

  • 9.  RE: Flash Based Web Client Stuck on Blue Screen

    Posted Feb 18, 2018 09:29 PM

It is automatically completes to /?csp. Tried in incognito mode too.

Do you have any of the old client integration plug-ins installed? If so, uninstall all integration plug-ins and reboot. And I'm assuming that you've tried on multiple, different computers, but can you confirm? Even though it'll redirect to /?csp, don't enter that in the browser as sometimes it causes issues.

  • 11.  RE: Flash Based Web Client Stuck on Blue Screen

    Posted Feb 18, 2018 10:13 PM

Removed all pug-ins and restarted my computer. Then tried again. Same result.

Then installed enhanced client integration plugin and tried again. Same result.

I did same steps with two computers and with firefox and chrome.

is there any way to assign license key to vcenter  with cli commands? if it is possible, it will be great. At least i can have access to my host's and vm's through HTML5 client.

Try restarting the web client service on vCenter?

One way you can assign it is through the HTML5 Fling version (not built-in version just yet). They just added licensing capabilities. You can deploy this as a separate appliance to the side of vCenter. It does not alter vCenter's configuration and allows you to use the Fling and built-in versions side-by-side.

Tried service restart. Didn't change anything. Trying to setup fling version.

I did installed HTML5 Fling version and assigned my license. Now i can work with HTML5 client but Flash client still not working. Don't know what is wrong.

You might need to open an SR as something seems to be hung up with the client.

    Hi,

You may have tried this before.. but just in case i will suggest it anyway.

Have you tried logging in using administrator@vsphere.local instead of your domain account? I've seen issues where security permissions on objects can sometimes cause the web client to be slow or to never load at all.

Let me know if you've tried logging in this way.

    Hi

OK... Do you know if any vSphere plugins were installed? This can also be caused by a plugin that isn't working correctly. Not to be confused with the client integration plugin -- that is client side.

Have you logged into the MOB page and reviewed the extension manager?

    Here's how:

    1. in a browser, log into the MOB page from here :

(edit the URL and add your vcenter hostname) https://vcenter.domain.local/mob/?moid=ExtensionManager

    2. Compare your list of extensions with this output (stock 6.5 extension list)

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.sms"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.vsm"] Extension

    extensionList["VirtualCenter"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.stats.report"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.sps"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.vcha"] Extension

    extensionList["hostdiag"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.ls"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.eam"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.rbd"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vmcam"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vsan.health"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vcIntegrity"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.ovf"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vcenter.iso"] Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.cl"] Extension

I guess let us know if you have other items in this list. I've seen things like the EMC Networker plugin cause very similar issues with the web client.

Something blocking flash web client. I agree with you. I tried server ports and firewall right a few days ago but that didn't change anything.

This extension idea might be the cause. Here, my vcenter's extension list:

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.ls"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.sms"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.sps"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.stats.report"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.vcha"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.vsm"]    Extension

    extensionList["hostdiag"]    Extension

    extensionList["VirtualCenter"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.cl"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.ovf"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.rbd"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vcenter.iso"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vcIntegrity"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vim.eam"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vmcam"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vsan.health"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vsan.mgmt"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.emc.recoverpoint.vwc"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.syslog"]    Extension

    extensionList["com.vmware.vdc"]    Extension

Does your environment rely on recover point for anything?

If you're going to rebuild, can you try removing this extension first? Please keep in mind, if you are relying on this extension and it's currently working, don't remove it. This would simply be for testing purposes since you're likely going to rebuild anyway (i think, not sure what your next steps are)..

    extensionList["com.emc.recoverpoint.vwc"]    Extension

i'm curious if this is causing your issue. Again, like I've mentioned, I've seen EMC extensions cause web client to not load correctly. Remove and then reboot vCenter and see if that resolves your issue. Good luck.. I'm all out of ideas : (..

Thank you, thank you and thank you again :smileyhappy: I did unregister emc extension and restarted server. Now everything works.

    Hi!

You can update HTML5 client manually where license functionality seems to be added vSphere HTML5 Web Client

Do you have antivirus software installed on windows VC? I've seen that AV can block web client.

As well it might be helpfull to check web client log. It's vsphere_client_virgo.log, located in C:\ProgramData\VMware\vCenterServer\logs\vsphere-client\logs

    Hi Again to All,

Vmware support couldn't solve the problem or they didn't tried enough. Here is the error message from vsphere_client_virgo log file.

I did little research and find out it could be similar to this thread Cannot connect to vSphere Web Client after restarted the vSphere web client service in vCenter

But still don't know how to solve my problem. Any ideas?

Does this error appear when you try to login? or it appears constantly in the log?

To be honest, I don't know what can cause this error in your situation. Maybe a MS patch could break Web Client.

If your environment isn't big I think that reinstall is the most quickest way to fix the issue. Also consider to move to VCSA.
