  • 1.  find out virtual machines that are clone linked

    Hi

     

    We just tried to cross vcenter virtual machine migrations and it works well. However several vms are linked to clone and vcenter doesnt allow to migrate these machines

     

    Is there any way to have list of all virtual machines that are created from clone and linked in vcenter

    I saw this but this means visit every single virtual machine that would be too much there are more than 5000 vms

    Cleary, you didn't actually read the blog post ... it mentions nothing about checking all VMs. Please give it another read as the answer or your question is literally explained there. 

    Furthermore, its EXACTLY these types of use cases where Automation and the use of vSphere API is meant to help to search for various types of information and does not impact your workloads, especially when you look for specific things rather than returning the full VM configuration.
