Failed - Unable to enumerate all disks.

    Hello,

I need help on one vm that i cannot get started.

i took a snapshot of the VMware OS and realized that the storage was 100% full.

I had to delete some files.  some log files and some files I do not remember exactly which files, but I think it was some snapshot files perhaps.

That did not help making space on the storage so, decided to move .vmdk file to other place and that did the trick.

the VMware OS (Windows 10) is running, so I simply shut it down and replaced the .vmdk that was moved back into the folder.

now I am getting "Unable to enumerate all disk."

I am not too experienced with VMware, so please help.

    Thanks in Advance.

You need to state which VMware product and version you are using.

    Hello Scott,

    Esxi 6.7.0 update 3

I was able to get it to boot to Windows now.

Now, I cannot restore to previouse snapshot, because the error indicates:

Depending on which files you have, and how much data was modified in the base virtual disk while you ran it without the snapshots, it may be possible to re-chain the snapshot and make the VM working again (with more, or less data corruption).

As a first step, please run ls-lisa in the VM's folder for a complete file listing, and attach a text file with the command's output to your next reply.

You may simply run the command from within the VM's folder (cd /vmfs/volumes/datastore-name/vm-name), and then copy&paste the text output into a new text file.

i was able to get to the volumes but i can't get to folers.  Maybe, I am typing wrong

    :/vmfs/volumes/5e653f99-0b8ba478-c58f-6c2b59bf826f] cd /vmfs/volu
    mes/5e653f99-0b8ba478-c58f-6c2b59bf826f/HDD4TB

after that, this is the folder tree I need to get into.

     [HDD 4TB] temp move/Windows 10 User 1/

    Please help.

    Sorry  for my stupidity.

It may help if you post a screen show of what exactly you see.

Ok, so if I understand this correctly, you have 3 folders that may contain relevant data?

    [HDD 4TB] temp move/
    [HDD 4TB] temp move/Windows 10 User 1/
    [HDD 4TB] Windows 10 User 1/

Which one is supposed to hold the "real" VM?

    Please run the following commands:

    cd "/vmfs/volumes/5e653f99-0b8ba478-c58f-6c2b59bf826f/HDD 4TB"
ls -lisa "temp move" > filelist.txt
    ls -lisa "temp move/Windows 10 User 1" >> filelist.txt
    ls -lisa "Windows 10 User 1" >> filelist.txt

You should now be able to download the "filelist.txt" file with the file listings from the datastore browser.

Please attach that file to your next reply.

    it says no such exits.

What if you use tab-completion, i.e. enter e.g.

    cd /vmfs/volumes/5e653f99-0b8ba478-c58f-6c2b59bf826f/H

and press the TAB key at the end of the line?

For paths with spaces you need to enclose them in quotation marks.
TAB completion will automatically do this for you, that's why I mentioned it.

I am trying to get paid support for this but I am not able to do it.

Is there any paid support I can get from a vmware engineer?

anyone in CA or UT area? please let me know.
