    Hello,

I'm hoping someone can double check this for me as if I've made a mistake its bad!

We currently have a Dell R630 ESXi server

    CPU is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 v3 @ 2.40GHz (Haswel I believe)

We are looking to get a new server. I'm considering a Dell R640

CPU would be Intel Xeon Silver 4208 2.1G, 8C/16T, 9.6GT/s, 11M Cache, Turbo, HT (85W) DDR4-2400 (Cascade Lake)

I plan to setup both servers to run ESXi 6.7u3 and build a new 6.7u3 vcenter. I'll then create a cluster and enable EVC - Haswell mode.

Will both servers be able to join the cluster?

I've used the VMWare compatibiltity guide which suggest this is ok, but I find the tool a little confusing to be honest so I was hoping someone can confirm that its definately ok!

    Cheers,

    Al

    Yes you will be fine.

Set EVC to Haswell and don't power on VMs on the new ones before doing so.
