Esxi with nfs on Win Server 2008 dint work after storage reboot

Hi

i have a problem reconnecting my nfs device - win server 2008 with anonnymous access.

Im getting the error message HostDatastoresystem.createnasdatastore for object ha-datastoresystem on esxi ip-address .... NFS Mount didnt work. Mount was denied...

Everything was fine until reboot of the storage. An connect to the nfs store with my mac works.

The Esxi image ist HP-ESXi 5.5.0 iso 5.72.27

Can you run the command "nfsshare nameofyourshare" in a elevated command prompt in your Windows Server 2008 and provide us the output ?

1.)  Make sure your NFS share is active and your permissions are still good / haven't changed.

2.)  You can restart the NFS services on the Windows 2008 R2 server and see if that reslvoes it

3.)  Make sure your Windows Server 2008 R2 system can ping the ESXi host your trying to share it to and vice a versa

4.)  Make sure the Windows Firewall didn't turn back on

5.)  If you have changed the Windows Server 2008 R2 Key from Standard to Enterprise, this can cause NFS to break if the Key doesn't fully take(AKA setting it through the GUI and having it not fully take, yet everything looks fine)

Try these things and let us know,

Hello @ all!

First the Screenshot of the nfsshare comand.

1) NFS Share is active and access from an Mac Book is posible (read/write)

2) allraedy done - nothing changes

3) Ping works in both directions

4) Firewall is disabled

5) Didnt change any Key - but we are using MS Storage Server 2008 on a HP X1600

We tryed some other things:

a) Mounting to NFS-Share on QNAP works

b) Mounting to a new NFS-Share on the HP X1600 didnt work

c) We are allso using Veeam for Backup. The Proxysoftware is installed to the Storage (x1600) could this be a problem?

It seems to me that both devices works fine for there own but not together. Is there anywere a list perhaps an ACL that blocks the Esxi or somthing else?

Did anyone know where i can find the logs on a Storage Server 2008 those who can be enabled in the Service for NFS ( activity logging) ?

Hey ehuellen,

The NFS will dump any errors into the Windows Application log or System Log.  Check there when trying to create the NFS share or connecting to it.  There should be something in there if any errors are occuring.

Your NFS settings look good as we Run a Windows Server 2008 R2 system with a NFS share fairly simular to what you have.  Which proxy software are you running on the storage server the Veem proxy?  If you have the Veem proxy on the Storage Server and think its locking the NFS share, temporarily disable the services for Veem and then restart the NFS server service and see if it works.
