  • 1.  ESXi host connecting to MSA Storage

    Posted Aug 26, 2010 04:23 PM

    Hi,

I have an ESXi 4.0 host & MSA HP StorageWorks MSA60 Array.

I created the logical drive on the server & configured the drive at Raid 5. The ESXi host & MSA are connected using a Smart Array p800 SAS cable.

When I login into the ESXi host I cannot see the storage.

I've gone into Configuration - Storage & its not there.

I've also gone into Storage Adapters & rescanned.

Any suggestions guys? I've only worked with iSCSI & Vmware so not sure how

    Thanks in advance.

On storage side can you see the host connections?

Have you enable the host to access on the LUNs?

Are you sure that your storage is compatible with vSphere?

I cannot find in the HCL:

    Hi Andre,

Sorry for the late reply. The MSA60 is not a SAN connection. This is a disk enclosure with a SAS interface. I just created one logical drive of 6.5TB. Maybe this is too big for ESXi to pick it up.

    Thanks,

    P

ESX/ESXi has the limit of 2TB for each disk.

    Create smaller disks.
