  • 1.  ESXi: controller recognized but SSD not detected

    Hello everybody,

    I installed ESXi 4.1 on my Tyan S2915 (MCP55 chipset) with an Adaptec 2405 controller.

    "regular" HDDs are well recognized and runs fine on both MCP55 and Adaptec controller but I can't see my brarnd-new OCZ Agility 2 SSD either on MCP55 or on Adaptec. It is well recognized in BIOS as well as with live linux distro (I could format and write on it, e.g), so the issue seems related to ESXi.

    Anyone with similar issue? maybe related to firmware?

    I am not too sure that particular SSD drive is supported for use with VMware ESXi 4.1.

    You should verify this using the online Hardware Compatibility Guide at http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php

    I checked the HCL but I can find only controller / SAN, is there any compatibility list for HDD/SSD?
