  • 1.  ESXi 6.5 - problem with access to the virtual machine on port 443

    Posted May 23, 2019 12:53 AM

    Hello,

I have a problem with port 443. I would like to secure the SSL Rocket Chat application on one of the virtual machines (Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS). I have ports 80 and 443 open on the router, but it only works on port 80 ... Are there any special settings in ESXi 6.5 that need to be set?

    Thanks for the help

What happens if you open a browser and connect to https://ip of Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS ?

after trying to connect in the Chrome browser, https://ip:3000 displays the message:

    ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

and when connected in the Chrome browser, https://ip without the Rocket Chat port:

    ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

    On https://localhost:3000 Chrome shows SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG

So it looks like an issue with the server and/or certificate. I don't think it has anything to do with the ESX host. More info on the error: How to fix the SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG Firefox Error

When port 80 works and 443 not it could be an issue with the SSL certificate. Did you check the firewall inside the guest OS?

    Hi,

try running "CurrPorts" on the computer where you open the web interface and check port 443 if it is busy.

If it is not busy, try opening the web interface in https and check if port 443 is displayed.
