  • 1.  ESX 3i monitoring?

    Hi,

We have recently deployed a number of Esx3i (embedded) hosts and I was wondering if there are any plans to support monitoring of the VM's in this configuration.

ESX3i has no service console so it's not possible to install the agent. Supposedly this is the way that VMware is taking in the future as the service console is being discontinued.

    Hi,

according to this thread there are several problems with monitoring the latest ESX versions and if you can't install the HQ Agent on your ESX host i don't see a way to monitor your VMs right now.

Ya, we are working on it - we've had a couple enterprise customers request it. However, I am not sure when we'll be releasing it. Apparently, its not a trivial task to add support for it. I'd imagine it would be done by 4.0.

Anyone know if this is supported in the 4.0 beta or not?

You can unlock a SSH console, it's just not supported.

I will also be waiting for ESXi support.

Also in case anyone is interested Vmware ESX3i is now available for free. I think this will result in very widespread adoption of this hypervisor.
