Can I buy two VMware vSphere Entperise Plus Acceleration Kit and then use them in linked mode accross two different datacenters?

Does this break the EULA and/or terms and conditions?

So SiteA has a vCenter server with three hosts in linked mode with SiteB with a vCenter server and three hosts.

Further, the inclusion details specifies 6 processors; can I use 6 single core servers instead of 3 dual core servers?

    Cheers,

    Paul

AFAIK, the only limitation is you can't have multiple AK for one physical site, but thos have the same features as normal versions, so you should be able to link them. On the contrary, Essentials version can't be linked

Yes, you are free to use the cores as you want (this is another dfference with Essentials)

    See http://www.vmware.com/products/datacenter-virtualization/vsphere/pricing.html

"All kits have a limit of one purchase per customer site and SnS is required for at least one year."

Very fast service. If you worked at MacDonalds you would be the employee of the month! ;-)

Afaik the default Essentials Kits may only be used "as is". Except for the branch office editions there's no way to manage more than 3 hosts.

Unless I'm mistaken, Linked mode is only available with the vCenter Server Standard edition.

EDIT: Forget my post. Somhow misread the question. Sorry.

It isn't the essentials kit I'm looking at, rather the Ent+ Acceleration Kit which comes with vCenter Server Standard and 6 CPU licenses for Ent+.

If we have a medium sized company with two datacenters then buying two of these saves them about 50% of the cost of buying all individual components outright. I can populate each site with 6 x HP DL380s with a single E-2690 Intel core and 128GB RAM. Each server will cost about $17k and then can be upgraded in a few years with a second core, 128GB RAM and an extra ESXi Ent+ CPU license for another $17k (probably less after 2 years etc).

I'm looking to build an easily upgradable solution and using the Acceleration Kits like this makes sense as long as it is valid legally.

    Cheers,

    Paul

I think yannbizeul was already spot on. The Acceleration Kits are basically specially priced starter kits/bundles with a set of licenses which can be freely used like individually purchased licenses. The only difference is in pricing (product and SnS) and you can only get 1 Acceleration Kit per location.
