My conversion completes from a win2k with mirrored dynamic disks, but when I go to start it I get an operating system not found error.

If you had multiple disks in the source try changing the disk boot order in the BIOS...

Dynamic disks have worked for some and not for others, most people break the mirrors before trying to run converter. If you are getting a OS not found try attaching the virtual disk to a working VM and make sure the boot.ini is correct.

If you have a copy of the old Beta version of converter it has been mentioned that it worked better with dynamic disks for some reason....

I have noticed that the Converter doesn't order the drives correctly all the time on dynamic disks. Thus a one physical drive/one logical drive box converts fine for me... but a multiple drive box doesn't.

What I have done to make this work is:

    1) Break the mirror

    2) Isolate the C (system) partition to it's own drive This can be done by creating mirrors of the other partitions then breaking the mirror on the system disk side.

    3) Convert the Physical box and use an odd amount of space for the system partition.

    4) Mount on the VMWare server and edit:

    a) Remove all the Hard Disks

    b) Add the first Hard Disk and make sure you select the system partition.. you can ID it by the odd size you made it.

    c) Add the other hard drives in.

    5) Start the Guest OS

Now you shouldn't get the error:

No bootable CD, floppy or hard disk was detected.

    Hope this helps!!

    Hi all,

I'm facing a problem with convert physical HP BL35p with NO SCSI disc on board.

I'm able to convert these servers with VMware Converter 3.0 but when I try to power on virtual machine it do not want to.

so I've solved in this way:

\- add a new virtual disc on the machine

\- boot the machine from a live CD OS (bartPe)

\- recreate the partition as primary on the newly added virtual disc

\- clone the exixting logical partitions to the newly created primary.

\- with diskpart set as active the right partition end then do a fixmbr on that disk

\- reboot and disconnect live CD.

    Now all works fine

    Thanks

    mf

VM Converter beta build 33128 works fine with Dynamic disks,

all you need to do is change the clock before running it.

    it expired already.

One consistent dynamic disk issue I have encountered is when I convert a dynamic disk that has been expanded, data corruption occurs.

Other than that, dynamic disks have converted fine for me.
