  • 1.  DL380 G3 only Slow in ESX

    I get very poor read performance with ESX 3.5 fully patched on 3 servers.

    I've done HD Tune test on all the VM inside these servers and they all reach 13MB/Sec read transfer rate.

    I've done the same test on the same machine without ESX, a physical Windows 2003 R2 and I get an average of 65MB/Sec .

    Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

    These are the specs of my servers:

    Dual XEON 3.06ghz

    6GB of RAM

    6x 144gb U320 10k RPM in RAID5

    I've tried enabling/disabling hyperthreading without noticing any difference.

    Do you have a battery backed write cache on the RAID controller?
