    Hi,

I'm trying to install ESXi 5 on a SuperMicro 1020A-T server (H8DAR-T motherboard) with Marvell 88SX6041 SATA RAID controller. When the installer starts everything looks OK, it detects the board, RAM but then, for disk selection, there's none.

If I insert USB drive to server, the installer sees it. Two disks are in RAID 1 (marked as bootable) and one disk in just simple volume. I also tried to remove the simple volume and have it just sit there, no luck either.

Is it possible to install ESXi 5 on this server? If so, what's the trick to do it?

    Thanks JC

So the official answer is if its not on the HCL (and I don't think it is) then its not supported and should not have any production workloads or any SLA:s.

If its for test/home use then there is some things to test.

Try to remove the raid-configuration and setup AHCI or similar, most of these controllers are fake-raid (in software) and will not work in ESX.
