  • 1.  Deploy OVA - unable to process template

    Hello,

    I have successfully deployed the Skyline Health Diagnostics OVA to one of my vCenters, however when I attempt to deploy the exact same OVA to another vCenter running vCenter 7.0.3 24026615 to a host running ESXi, 6.7.0, 14320388 I am repeatedly getting the error "unable to process template."

    I have tried the following:

    Deploy using administrator@vsphere.local
    Deploy to an alternative cluster
    Deploy to a cluster running a different version of ESXi (6.5)
    Deploy using a different browser
    Log in directly to the host and deploy from there. (Failed - different error)
    Failed - Access to resource settings on the host is restricted to the server managing it: "192.168.1.xxx"
    Deploy from a jump box
    Deploy to local storage

    All of the above have failed. I saw one suggestion that it could be caused by the VMware vSphere Profile-Driven Storage Service being stopped, however I have checked and it's running and healthy. I found a KB saying that this was a known issue affecting vCenter 6.5.0b (build 5178943) and later however this should have been resolved since vCenter Server 6.5 Update 1.

    Any other suggestions? At this point I'm tempted to re-deploy it to the vCenter I know I can deploy it to, then I can download it to my local machine and upload it to the final destination vCenter, but this is an absurd amount of effort for something that should simply work the way I'm doing it.

    @dbutch1976,

    There could be multiple reasons for the subjected error and I see you've tried multiple options already. Now, my obvious suggestion was to ask you to deploy the OVF/OVA directly to the host and since you've tried that too and came across this expected behavior, please follow the below article to resolve this issue.

    This should help, however the last resort would be to use the OVF Tool CLI that helps you to import/export OVF packages to and from many VMware products.
