  • 1.  Dell PERC H200 Passthrough Mode

    Hello

    Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong

    I am trying to put the H200 SCSI Card into passthrough mode so that I can get the tape drive that is connected to it working correctly

    If I goto

    Configuration-Advanced Settings-Configure Passthrough

    I can selet the tick box for LSI Logic Dell PERC H200 Adapter

    Then I get the orange symbol stating that I must re-boot the host for this to take effect

    However when I reboot the server and go into Passthrough Settings, there are no devices configured for Passthrough

    Please help

    EDIT: I think this might be because it is connected to board using the Intel 5520 chipset, however this chipset supports VM Passthrough and I have the option enabled in Bios but in the VM client it says the Intel 5520 I/O Hub is not passthrough capable, ARRRRR

    Thanks for the reply (again) but that looks like it will disable passthrough

    Thats not what I want to do.

    The problem is that I cant get the H200 to stay as passthrough configured

    It reverts to being unticked after a reboot

    http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1016407 is specifically about tape drives but gives directions for adding a SCSI controller to a guest.

    But you have also some disk with a datastore on this controller?

    With VMDirectPath you must have a dedicated card.

    This is why I am trying to get that card working in passthrough mode

    Any ideas?
