We just rebooted our vCenter server after performing an Acronis backup of it. After launching the vSphere client to the vCenter server, I got this message:

    vSphere Client

There was an error connecting to Vmware vCenter Update Manager - . Database temporarily unavailable or has network problem.

I found that the plug-in for Update Manager was "disabled". I tried to restart the Update Manager service...but, did not help. Any help , please.

you have confirmed also, there are no space issues for the VUM DB instance? You may also find information in the windows event logs. Also, test your ODBC connection to see if you can still connect to the instance.

Thanks very much, Troy. The attachment fixed my problem. Didn't have any indications in Eventviewer and the ODBC checked fine. Database space was no issue. Not sure what happened ...but, changing the login from System login to a VUM login worked.
