  • 1.  CPU Usage high on Terminal server using Esxi5 host server

    Posted Mar 05, 2012 09:06 PM

Done P2V for a terminal server 2000 on Esxi5. The problem is its showing high CPU usage when 4 or 5 users are logged in and then it freezes.

Already given maximum processor, but it is still an issue.host server got  2 processor with 12 cores and got only 1 terminal server as guest.

    Please help...

    Welcome to the community,

Two things you got to look at.

    1. Change the virtual machine monitoring mode.

    http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2012205

    1. Change the HAL from multiprocessor to uniprocessor for single vCPU VMs, since it has 2 processor with 12 core, check if the HAL is set to multiprocessor. Also with just 1 vCPU your VM will give the expected performance, since the load on the server is going to be very less 4 to 5 users..

    refer the below KB:
