I'm trying to convert a physical Windows 2003 Web Edition server. It works fine but when i start the machine it doesn't boot giving STOP: 0X0000007B error.

I already followed this KB article http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&externalId=1005208 adding the mentioned drivers as well as registry keys but it still didn't worked.

Any ideas of what else i can try?

Please post (attach) the VM's vmware.log file to see how the VM is configured. Which disk controller type did you select in step 3 while converting the system?

as a.p. pointed out, it may be you are using IDE instead of SCSI.  If so, you can change to SCSI by following http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1016192
