Converting Virtuozzo Containers to Vmware ESX VMs

    hello,

I havent come across a way to convert VIrtuozzo Containers to VMware ESX. There was only one thread in the community and that was unconclusive. Google returns nothing much.

I understand that the the Virtuozzo uses OS-level virtualization where as ESX uses hardware virtualization, so my chances are less for converting Virtuozzo containers to ESX VMs.

If anyone have any thouhgts/clues/tips, I would appreciate it a lot...

    Thnx..

Additionally, there is no VMware branded product that can do this.

    Hopefully you find alternative means.

The vConverter doesn't mention parallels containers, not anything that actually supports any OS Level virtualization instead of Hardware Virtualization.

A google of Parallels Virtozzo to ESX brought me to this post.

Very explicitly it is stated PVC container migration is not supported. But, I was wondering if it would work if we pretend the container is a physical server.

Has anyone tried treating the Windows container as a physical machine to migrate to a VMware ESX VM?

I'd also like to migrate our Virtuozzo 4.6 containers to ESX 5.0.
