  • 1.  Converter license activation - license file vs. activation code?

    Trying to download the Converter boot cd ISO, which requires an enterprise license. I have a vCenter 2.5 Enterprise license and a Converter 3.0.3 Enterprise license. I have the .lic files, though when I try to register the product under my account it asks for a serial/activation code. What gives? I assume I'm missing something, just trying to figure out where that serial/activation code should have come from so I can track it down...

    You don't need a flex code or lic for the cold clone disc. If you have vCenter registered to your VMware.com account, do the following:

    http://www.vmware.com/download/download.do?downloadGroup=VC250U4

    Login with a username that is associated with the VMware vCenter Server license

    Accept the EULA

    Download the "VMware vCenter Converter BootCD for vCenter Server" ZIP File

    That's the newest version of your cold clone disc (4.0.3).

    If you already have vCenter on your account you can't register it again .... just use the product. The LIC file would have been for converter 3.0.3 standalone (NOT Cold Clone), just use 4.0.1 Standalone which is free.

    That's the newest version of your cold clone disc (4.0.3).

    didn't we recently discussed this ? - I thought version 4.1.0 build 114729 was the newest one

    That's if he has a vCenter 4 license. He said in his post .. vCenter 2.5 .... I have him one he should be able to download.

    If he doesn't have a vCenter 4 license, then he can't get the 4.1.0 Cold Clone.
