  • 1.  Converter for PowerQuest (.PQI) images?

Is there a way to turn a PowerQuest image into a VM using Converter? I have images of servers in .PQI formats but Converter doesn't seem to recognize the old file extensions.

Restore the PQI image into a new VM and then run Converter->Configure.

    Hi All,

Finally got it working. My issue was that I did not have PowerQuest. I ended up using Ghost 9 & using the restore feature. I created a blank drive on an existing VM, restored the PQI file to that drive (setting it to active), then used converter from that VM. I chose the option 'physical machine' and chose the drive that had been restored. From there I was able to push it into my VI3 environment and boot it up normally.

    Thanks for the help!

Converter should be able to read GHO 9 formats when importing.

I need to restore a Compaq Presario to factory settings. There is a folder with all of the pqi files that seems to be intact on the the D:\Data partition. I have no original discs. Do I have any hope? Your previous message here gave me some hope... I do have Ghost, but not version 9.0. I have versions 10.0 and 2003. Thank you in advance. I am willing to provide my email address.

you should be able to convert the pqi file to a gho file using Ghost, then restore the files from there.

I was able to do the restore, but it missed all of the settings I needed and had to track down an older version of PowerQuest in order to completely restore the files.

I ended up finding an executable file that restored the system to it's original factory settings using the PowerQuest Program.

    It was located here: C:\CPQS\QUICKSR\FRESTORE.EXE

I just knew that Compaq was wrong when they told me it would be impossible without the disks.

However, I will try to covert those files with Ghost as you recommended. Just for the experience. Thank you!
