Hello
Have someone use converter stanalone to convert Windows 2000 server ?
Thanks !
Yes. But be sure to use Converter 4.0.1 or lower. the latest 4.3 can't convert windows 2000 anymore!
Also Windows 2000 has to be Service Pack 4.
Regards
The following old version of converter, which one better for Windows 2000 server ? is they free?
VMware vCenter Converter 3.0.3 Enterprise Edition
VMware vCenter Converter 3.0.3 Starter Edition
Converter stand alone is free, check this link https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=converter&ie=UTF-8&q=converter%20stand%20alone
From practical experience I haven't found vConverter utility helpful for Windows Server 2000. The P2V conversion often is stuck and I am unsuccessful. I normally use the Coverter available with Acronis. It works better for Win2k. However, it is certainly not a free product.

Which converter version you have tried? can you explain more ? thanks !
Hi,
I have tried VMware vCenter Converter 3.0.2 (Starter Edition). I was unsuccessful on this a few times. I have seen the progress bar gets stuck at 87% without any error message and there are no logs as well. Our company uses Acronis as the backup solution, -- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition and there is an inbuilt utility which makes conversion of Win2K servers very easy.
Have you try converter standalone version? And where can download converter standalone 3.0 version?
I couldn't find a standalone version for 3.0.2 but please find the link for version 3.0.3 below:-
http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/converter3/ZGQqYmpwdGJAdA==
Is its free ? or use trail version to clone ? if used trail version to clone, will it expire cloned machine?
Thread moved to the Converter area.
VMware Standardalone Converter is free.
Use the old 3.0.3 version in order to convert the 2000 machine.
Andre

Before converting Windows 2000 server i would suggest to follow the links attached below as even if the Conversion completes successfully you may not be able to power the machine UP. This usually happens because of the drivers issue.

Windows 2000 server conversion is always a PAIN and worked in vmware support for 2 years in past, i would suggest you to check the links once.
