    Hello,

We are having a weird issue where once we authenticated to the DCUI, we got a blank black screen, we can type words, but does not accept commands.

So we found that we can use ALT-F1, to switch screens, which shows the VMware logo, but still does not accept commands.

We also tried to use the viclient to connect to host directly, can it will not accept a viclient connection.

Also, this host still has VMs that are still up and running,  we were able to RDP into a VM on this host.

So, if we cannot get into the DCUI, do you have any recommendation as to how to handle this issue, so that we do not drop the VMs.

It is currently setup in HA and DRS on the cluster.

Thanks for your help with this weird issue.

    Take Care,

    -Mike

As you have control on the VM's OS, as a work around, you can power down the VM, browse the shared datastore, enter in the VM folder, choose add to inventory on the vmx file.

Sounds like you have problems with the datastore where your ESXi image lives.  This type of thing happens when the boot image is gone, or is having problems.  The machines will continue to run, but unless ESXi can write to its logfile, you can not get logged in.

Check and make sure your storage is in tact.
