***UPDATE***: I made my usb device work by passthru toggling my motherboards USB3 controller and using those ports. Attaching a "USB Device" to the VM does not work for USB audio devices.
I'm experiencing the same issue. ESXI 6.7 with update 3 and latest patch updates. I'm using my VM (Win 11 2H22) as a Reaper DAW with iLok (usb device passthrough) licenses for various audio plugin brands. I got iLok working after some trial and error. I had to update to the latest patches to get iLok to work. Was having VM crashing on startup with iLok attached until I made ESXi patch updates.
I attached a usb-C spdif dongle (also a USB Mobile Pre) to the VM, so I can plugin headphones for DAW mixing. The Spdif dongle works on multiple non VM OS, including my Note 9 android, but not in Win 11 VM. The VM OS recognizes the Spdif dongle (Mobile Pre also) but does not route an audio stream to them. I also tried RDP remote audio, audio is not passing through either. The remote audio failure leads me to believe that the issue is with ESXI.
The only success I had for streaming audio in the VM, was using Reaper's Dummy output with Sonobus on the master track. That allowed me to stream audio to another Sonobus instance on my remote terminal.
So what's going on with Windows and ESXI? Windows recognizes the USB audio devices but is not routing audio to them.
I'm not alone, and this is not the only thread on the internet for this issue. will you please help solve this issue?
Thank you
