    Hi,

    I used enterprise essentials plus for three ESX server. I have NetApp SAN which I need to upgrade. It has been stable for more than three years. Now I am planning to upgrade NetApp and during the upgrade I need to move all my VM to local storage.

    On recent test I found that live migration between storage is not supported with Essentials plus. Offline migration of few machine took almost 3 hours and I can't afford to bring SQL VM down for 6 hrs. Would it be possible to apply temp eval license of standard to complete live storage migration until I complete NetApp upgrade and switch the ESX and vcenter license back to essentials plus. I do not any return on investment to upgrade the feature I won't  need for three to four or perhaps none in future.

    Whether it's possible or not, it would be against the conditions of the EULA.

    Essentials Plus has the features you need. It supports cross-host vMotion ("Change both host and datastore") since version 5.1. This allows you to migrate the VM online to another host, and datastore, and works even without shared storage.

    @prasantF

    Why did you ask the same question again in another thread Temp license switch?

    Doesn't the answer to this thread help?
