  • 1.  after iscsi 10G migration... the vmotion slow down too much

    Posted Mar 25, 2013 03:16 AM

    hi all,

i have an hp p4500 g2 2-nodes iscsi san which i upgrade to 10G nic and also i'm using cisco 3750x 2x10G adapter, cheaper solution than nexus 1000v and fiber san lol...  also i used only copper instead of fiber cable lol...  after the upgrade everything seems to speed up everything but the last one i tested is the vmotion, it got slowwer by 300%.  before the migration, my management and vmotion are channel-group together and standard switch (all vm are dvswitch) which vmotion is acceptable, about 3-6 min. per vm.  after the migration i decided too to put all in dvswitch, so i can't channel-group anymore the management ip and vmotion ip, so i break them and just put as single dvswitch management ip and single dvswitch vmotion.  i put also the security-mac reject (from accept in channel-group) and security-forget_transmit reject (from accept in channel-group) and of course teaming and failover/load balancing to route based (from ip hash).

should i put it back?  or what else is wrong?

any comment you may add is highly appreciated.

    thanks

i put it back, it's much much faster...

the memory usage is. half now, is it because of the 10g upgrade, doesn't make any sense.

so i think the recommended settings for dvswitch is only for vm network, the management, vmotion, iscsi, used the standard network with channel-group especially on vmotion and two network of 1g each on iscsi network.
