  • 1.  added extra harddrive into host using esxi 6.7 - not showing up

    Hi all

     

    I added a harddrive into my host which is using Hypervisor esxi 6.7 however the harddrive isnt showing up how do I get this to show up?

    You should present disk to ESXi. How to do this depends on configuration of your server. If RAID controller is in pass-through mode, disk should be visible. If RAID controller is in RAID mode, you should add that disk to RAID array to be visible. All of this assumes that ESXi has drivers for RAID controller and can communicate with them.

    How do I check which mode we using? 

     

    I can see the main storage however the newly added one no, could you give me some guidance on how to install it to the raid, will this cause downtime?

    Check in documentation of the server. For example, HPE has utility called Smart Storage Administrator for configuring RAID controllers.

    Just check if you use Virtual Drive for your Datastores. If Dell server, connect through iDRAC or if HP connect through iLO. Which hardware are you using?
