I 've installed Converter under Ubuntu 8.04 ...but It seems that a *.tib file (on a ntf windows partition) is not fit as source !

See attachement, what it means .....does it work only with a Converter installed on a Windows partition ? But the guest generated should work under VMware server installed on Ubuntu...

    Many thaks.

TIB files are unique to Acronis True Image software. You'll need Acronis True Image Virtual Edition or the Universal Restore add-on to convert your TIB files directly to something that the VMware Converter can digest. The other option could be to restore the TIB file to a physical machine and use the Converter boot CD to convert that.

    Restore *.tib files as usual.

Boot Acronis CD in a newly created VM. Restore image from network.

next run Converter "configure" option against the newly created VM

Do you want to get the importing job done - or do you want to run Converter as an art in itself ???

I don't know who writes the Converter docs but they are at least "un-precise"
