    Hi

Is there any way of coping vmdk files available in the External USB drive to the datastore by connecting the USB drive directly to ESXi 5 server machine.

I have load of test vmdk files, and it takes more time to copy through vSphere client. If possible, how can i mount the usb drive directly in the ESXi5 server machine.

I believe ESXi 5 can read NTFS file system ( USB drive formated in NTFS filesystem ), so possible to copy the vmdk files through SC in ESXi5.

lsusb output shows " Bus 02 Device 04: ID 0bc2:3001 Seagate RSS LLC ", seems ESXi 5 server recoganises the External Seagate Drive.

    Regards

    Gopal

USB drive as datastore is still not supported with vSphere..

you need to copy it via vsphere client no other go, i belive..
