  • 1.  Acceleration Kit from Essentials Plus -- What exactly do I get?

    Posted Apr 03, 2014 02:13 AM

I have read all the marketing material on the vmware.com site regarding Acceleration Kits to extend to a 4th host from Essentials Plus.

To go from VMWare Essentials Plus to the VMWare Standard Acceleration Kit costs about $14,000 ($10k for license, $3900 for Production Support). My understanding is that this gives me 6 processor licenses, which is the same as I have with Essentials Plus.

Am I understanding correctly that the $14,000 doesn't actually give me any additional capacity, but rather it just now allows me to be able to then buy additional CPU licenses? Or am I reading that wrong and it actually gives me 6 ADDITIONAL CPU licenses, for a total of 12?

I feel like I must be missing something here...can anyone clarify?

    Thanks,

    Jason

I doubt you will get a clear answer here, just raise a support request to VMware on this.

Is that the cost for Standard Acceleration Kit with vCOPs, the processor is still the same. You would have 6 processor license (6 Processors of vSphere with Operations Management Standard Edition), but the acceleration kit would add scalability, so you could add more licenses in future as needed. It should also remove the limit of 3 host as you get a VMware vCenter Server Standard Edition. There would be standard features of vCOPs and also Fault Tolerance and Storage vMotion feature would get added. Hope this helps.
