  • 1.  login to esxi with domain account

We had a power outage, and since then we cannot login using the domain account anymore. We used to be before. The only way we can login to ESXi is via vSphere.local accounts. Following this KB, the hosts are already joined to the domain. I only see vSphere.local accounts in users group.  How can I add the previous domain account?

That KB simply allows you to join a host to the domain.

Are you trying to only access the host using a domadmin account (via web or vSphere Client)?  Or are you trying to access the hosts or VM via the vCS?

If the hosts are properly joined to the domain, you should be able to ssh into those directly.

If you are trying to access via the vCS, then your vCS also needs to be joined to the domain to have a trust that allows the domadmin account.

It sounds as if this power outage disrupted a configuration file that was either not saved, or not in the running config for access purposes.

The host is already joined to the domain, I see that when I login with vSphre.local admin account.

I'm trying to login via web using AD domain account like before the power outage.

What happens if I leave the domain and rejoin with the same AD account as before?

Problem fixed.  This turned out to be a Duo problem.  The Duo service was not running after reboot.

Started Duo service, and I'm able to login using the same Domain user account.
