  • 1.  Enabling copy / paste text to Linux guest terminal

    Posted Mar 05, 2024 05:29 PM

We're trying to enable the clip board using instructions from: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/57122.

By enabling the options we can copy / paste text successfully if the guest OS is Linux or Windows with a full gui.

However, we cannot get pasting to work with Linux Terminal where a gui is not installed.  Similar issue with windows servers without a gui.

How can I enable copy / paste to a Linux server that does not have a gui?

    Thanks in advance.

I always turn on SSH and use Putty to cut and paste to Linux VMs.

For Linux servers without a GUI, consider using command-line tools like xclip or xsel for clipboard operations. For Windows servers without a GUI, clip.exe can help.
