    Hello,

Could someone help explain to me some confusing about the agent of the UC4
Here is the agents installed on the same machine. I don't know why on the same machine, but agent has different names? And the SAP agent we have 2 versions?

    oaruybp2hgpb.pnghttps://us.v-cdn.net/5019921/uploads/editor/cs/oaruybp2hgpb.png" width="544">

I guess when we install agent, we can specify the host name for agent, right?

    Regards,
    Phat

And 1 more concern is that in the service.msc I only see the service of Automic Engine, I don't see the service of agent. In case the agent stopped, how can I restart it again?

    Hi PhatTran612036 ,

That means you're starting two different SAP agents connecting to two different SAP systems. This is done through the assigned connection objects in client 0.
One is connecting to a SAP basis version 7.00 and the other to 7.40.
Yes, the agent name is specified in the ini file. Either you type in a name where it says name=.
If you leave this entry blank it will automatically take the hostname.

Within services.msc you see the Service Manager service. The agents can be seen utilizing our Service Manager Dialog. This component can only be installed on Windows.

    Alexander_Trenker_120,

Can you show me where is the assigned connection on client 0. I have access already, I can investigate this.
And where is the UC4 service manager dialog?

    Regards,
    Phat

And 1 more thing, I often heard that our UC4 has only license for 5 concurrent sessions. Where can I clarify this option?

The SAP connection object is defined in client 0 and looks like:

This connection object is then assigned to the SAP agent - also in client 0:

Regarding licenses, it depends on what is defined in your contract with Automic. If you can only run 5 sessions then your license might be limited to 5 users only.

If the agent is stopped you can stat it either from the Service Manager Dialog --> right click on the agent that is not running --> Start Service:

Or from your system overview --> Administration --> Agents & Groups --> Agents:

    Alexander_Trenker_120,

Thank you for your feedback. And about the license, we cannot check/verify it in the UserInterface?

Of course you can check within UI...

Just go to system overview/License (JAVA UI)

the relevant rows are DC (= JAVA UI) and DC WEB(=AWI/ECC)

count shows the amount of licenses purchased and used the amount in use.

DC is historical expression for Dialog Client

Look at the picture below. In the left side, we cannot find CONNECTION folder. But in the right side, we can see it.

But how can I open/browse the Connection folder to see the CONN objects inside it? I know there are some connection object were created. But I cannot open CONNECTION folder.

Please advise me how to list its content

    Alexander_Trenker_120 ,

As you illustrated, the SAP agent connection with user/pass is configured in client 0000. But in my system, in client 500 for example, when create the SAP job, in attribute: host is the SAP agent with login is another user/pass. Why do we need to have 2 credentials here?

     Hi PhatTran612036 ,

What is the version of your Java UI as well as the version of the Automation Engine. Maybe we already fixed the described behavior in a newer version.

    Hi PhatTran612036 ,

The user in the connection object in client 0 (also referred to as the CPIC user) is the user that creates the job. The user specified in the login object within the other client is the user that runs the step.

    Alexander_Trenker_120 ,

    As you said:
    CPIC user creates the job
    login user run the step
--> what does it mean create the job as well as run the step?

The both accounts are SAP users?

    Our structure is as below:

UC4 engine  --> SAP agent(installed on same machine with engine) --> connect to SAP server (separated server)
So, SAP agent has CPIC user on client 0000, and SAP login user on another client 500. Why do we need to have both?

    Regards,
    Phat

    That's related to SAP users.
Like creating a job in SM36.

    ao8md6bc4103.pnghttps://us.v-cdn.net/5019921/uploads/editor/px/ao8md6bc4103.png" width="648">

Which results in the following report in SM37

    wcsxou4d6bkn.png

You can of course use the same user for both connection and login object.
Most companies have different users due to different SAP roles or permissions.

I have to take a look if the behavior you're seeing in your version was already fixed in a higher version. As soon as I can find something I will let you know.

    Alexander_Trenker_120 ,

Here is the version on my dev environment. UserInterface has the same version with Production. But Java is different. On the Dev, I can browse and see the CONN objects inside the CONNECTION folder.

    Alexander_Trenker_120,

Do you have update about this case? I mean the version of UC4, cannot access UC4 CONNECTION folder for now.

One more question, can we know who is logging into the system?

  • 26.  Explain the uc4 agent

    Posted Aug 25, 2017 04:58 PM
Did you create the folder CONNECTION manually or through a transport case?
If it was a transport case this bug was fixed in 11.2.3.

A problem has been fixed where Automation Engine didn't refresh folder tree after loading a transport case into the same client.
This problem was reproducible only with DBLoad option "Keep client during import".

You can find all the users that are logged into the system in client 0 --> System Overview --> Users:

    Alexander_Trenker_120,

I got handover from former admin. So I have no clue for this in the past. What should I do to check?

As I can see in your other community post: https://community.automic.com/discussion/comment/31513 there are some problems that can only result from a transport case. Therefore if you upgrade to the newer version mentioned above (11.2.3) this behavior will be gone.

This can be caused by the different ways this folder was created. If you create a new folder now in client 0 does it show up in the tree view as well as the explorer view?
