I get the following error at times whenever I am trying to pull defect list from rally- Connection to http://rally1.rallydev.com refused.
All firewall and proxy exceptions are in place.

Hi Shruti, are you using a connector when pulling defects, or are you accessing Rally directly when you get this error?  Are you still getting the error?

    Hi John,

I am persistently getting an error -  Caused by: org.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connection to https://rally1.rallydev.com refused

Above is error when tried to create Rally Repository in Tasktop; however tasktop uses Rest API. We are able to successfully login to Rally using browser on the same tasktop machine, but when we use the same account(which has subscription admin privilege) and url  provided to tasktop; we get an error below:
Connection refused (requested URL was https://rally1.rallydev.com/slm/webservice/v2.0/subscription)

Is it proxy error or some setting in Rally that could be tweaked to allow integration with tasktop OR is it a network configuration issue?

Note: Came across a related piece of info on forums and rally admin link as below:
    https://help.rallydev.com/rally-advanced-security-and-administration

solution: To clarify, your Subscription would need to be set to "SSO with Exceptions", and your Rally UserID would need to be whitelisted on the Exceptions list.

Is above setting mandated at Rally end i.e is editing rally subscription data value from current mode- hybrid (SSO or web) authentication to "sso with exceptions" the only way as in one place it indicates if account is subscription admin, then this setting is not mandatorily required.

However, I came across info indicating To provide the best security while enabling integrations, a third mode is available: SSO-only with exceptions. As our integrations require a username to fetch the subscription data, these users may be added to an exception list (or whitelist) to log in to Rally with standard web access.

Hi Kavya, have you had a chance to look at the Troubleshooting Network Connectivity for Integrations article?

As far as the SSO with Exceptions list, if the user is set up as a Subscription Administrator the account should be able to login without a problem: https://help.rallydev.com/rally-advanced-security-and-administration#exceptions

BeckyBittner1340079 I sure wish those links would have come over more nicely! That article (and all other KB articles) are in our new Knowledge Base. Here's the link to that article: Troubleshooting Network Connectivity Issues with Rally Integration Connectors
