    Hi all,

Does our IM products support devices with dual stack of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses ?

    Best Regards

Spectrum's IPv6 support is pretty complete.  Polling over either IP version and polling of the dual stack ip mib stats, addressing, and routing tables.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. I understand the Spectrum complete support for IPv6. Need to understand if we support monitoring of devices running both the IPv4 as well as IPv6 (dual stack). If yes then how ?

To begin with, a Yes/No for the support would be good enough to comply with the customer requirement.

    Best Regards

    Hi,

My previous experience with UIM ipv6 is pretty bad. This was back in 6.x, but there were definitely some pitfalls and eventually I decided against using ipv6 altogether and fortunately the case alloweds that as well, even if it meant more hubs. I believe back then there was a limitation that a hub really shouldn't have both robots connecting with both ipv4 and ipv6.

If you mean that you want to poll over both IPv4 and over IPv6 simultaneously, there's not a clean way to do that.  You can create a second model of the device, so that you have an SNMP model that polls over IPv4, and then create an IPv6 Pingable.  It's not really ideal, but it does test reachability of both.  If you just have a single model for the device, it will poll using the primary network address, whatever version that is.
