  • 1.  where will I get the apache httpd.conf file?

    Hello ,

I have succesfully installed CA Wily APM on windows server 2003. I successfully monitored Oracle Database Metrices separately. Now, I want to setup a Performance monitoring enviorenment for Apache Tomcat server. The first issue that I faced was, Windows 2003 server did not support apache tomcat server 5.5. So, as a matter of fact I opted for tomcat 6. All the configurations and intallation procedures for setting up the web server monitoring enviorenment seems to be done correctly. But according to CA documents some additional configurations in the tomcat setup files are needed. This is where the "httpd.conf" file is required. I have searched the whole computer with this file name.... but it does not exist. where i can find these file??..

Important point that I want to share is .. the "httpd.conf" file does not exist in tomcat 7 either... I have tried it also..

    Hi Siddharta,

Search for "apache2.conf" instead of "httpd.conf "file. The main config file depends how Apache has been configured. Try making changes suggested by CA in the apache2.conf file and see if that helps.

    Thanks,
    Sunil

    Hi Siddhartha
What are you looking to configure,
there are two different monitoring you can do wrt to apache tomcat
->Tomcat app. server : The latest version of this is 7.x, to monitor the tomcat app.server you need to configure the agent options in the Catalina.sh file. Also for this you do not need any powerpack but just the base Introscope agent will do.

->Tomcat HTTP server:- This is what needs the httpd.conf file, this is a webserver conf file to publish the statistics agent need. Also the HTTP server is monitored using our "APM webserver powerpack" and not the core agent.

    Regards
    Vijay

    Hi Siddhartha,

This is what you mentioned at the beginning --> All the configurations and installation procedures for setting up the web server monitoring environment seems to be done correctly. Assuming that you are trying to monitor Apache Web Server here you should be able to configure CA APM for Web Servers by following the APM_for_Web_Servers_EN.pdf document which can be downloaded from CA Support site.

    Thanks,
    Sunil
