Welcome to CA API Management Office Hours! We'll get started in 5 minutes...
Got a question for our product team today?
from Alejandro Calbazana to Everyone:
hello, is there a way to add service documentation without a wadl? i want to be able to add services but supply my own documentation or possibly host documentation outside of the portal.
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
Yes, Portal 3.1 adds the ability to create API docs from RAML files in addition to WADL files
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
If you prefer to add non-interactive doc, you can also do that using the CMS
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
Just create an API and specify a location for your documentation page, but don't upload a WADL or RAML file
from Kristen Malzone (CA) to Everyone:
@Dana - Could you contribute that info to this thread that Alejandro started in the community so that other's can see the answer as well? https://communities.ca.com/thread/241731478
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
then you go to Staging mode, click on the link to your doc page and edit it manually, or copy and paste your existing doc
from Alejandro Calbazana to Everyone:
@dana, thanks... i recall not seeing the api show up in the docs list in staging mode when i set it up w/o the wadl. maybe i did something wrong.

from Dana Crane to Everyone:
You can also manually go into the Documentation tree and create a new page in Staging mode by clicking the Add button
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
choose the APIDocument template for your doc page
from Alejandro Calbazana to Everyone:
i wanted to benefit of having the docs for the api shown/hidden based on the api plan. if i just added it manually, everyone would see it.
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
you'll notice (when in edit mode) that you can associate an API with that page. Choose the API you created and this will link the two together. So if you set that API to private, for example, this doc page will now be hidden
from Alejandro Calbazana to Everyone:
ah, i'll have to investigate that
from Alejandro Calbazana to Everyone:
i think i've seen this asked before, but... is there a way to use a single portal to manage multiple gateways?
from Alejandro Calbazana to Everyone:
it would be nice to have one portal talk to my dev gateway and my test gateway. right now, my dev is without a portal
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
so the answer is technically yes
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
out of the box, we support only a single cluster of gateways attached to the Portal
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
however our Pro Services people have come up with scripts and policies that can replicate Portal entities (like API Keys, Account Plans, etc) across multiple Gateway clusters
from Dana Crane to Everyone:
this allows you to have a single Portal that serves dev, test and production if you so desire
from Alejandro Calbazana to Everyone:
thanks. something i'll definitely follow up on.
from Alejandro Calbazana to Everyone:
thanks guys
from Kristen Malzone (CA) to Everyone:
@Alejandro - Thanks for joining!
