General Availability of CA Virtual Network Assurance 2.1

Mar 27, 2017 03:03 PM

CA Technologies is pleased to announce the availability of CA Virtual Network Assurance r2.1.  CA Virtual Network Assurance enables traditional network monitoring systems to be extended into modern network architectures based on SDN/NFV, SDDC (Software-Defined Data Center) and SD-WAN (Software-Defined WAN).  Working together with CA Performance Management r3.1 and CA Spectrum r10.2, customers have a comprehensive solution to assure SDDC, SDN/NFV, and SD-WAN.

The main goal of this release is to support CA Performance Management in its first introduction of SD-WAN Assurance.  In addition, we added Cisco ACI operational UI enhancements, Automation API for inventory Enrichment and Staging, and monitoring of the critical Cisco ACI Policy TCAM metric.

New Feature Highlight – Viptela Plugin for SD-WAN Assurance

In this release, we are introducing a new CA Virtual Network Assurance plugin for Viptela vManage v16.2.3.  Together with CA Performance Management r3.1, network operators can extend traditional network monitoring to SD-WAN control-plane and intelligence.  Additional plugins for ecosystem vendors will be available in future releases.

New Feature Highlight – Enhanced Cisco ACI Visualization

In this release, you will find user-defined status indicators in the relationship topology objects.  You can also line filter based on health scores to focus on desired objects in a dense data center.

New Feature Highlight – Automation API for Inventory Enrichment & Staging

In this release, CA Virtual Network Assurance comes with a new Automation API for inventory enrichment and staging.  What this means is that you can use this API with an orchestration system to automatically add attributes to an SDN inventory, while creating a provisioned inventory that is not discoverable yet.  These are popular use cases for providers deploying network-as-a-service (NaaS) using SDN.

New Feature Highlight – TCAM Utilization in Cisco ACI Fabric

In this release, you can monitor the utilization of one of the most vulnerable areas in the ACI fabric, TCAM (Ternery Content Addressable Memory).  Our partner, Cisco, and early adopters of Cisco ACI have reported that this resource is most used in Cisco ACI fabric and when it is over-utilized, the ACI automation control-plane starts to deteriorate.  Combining TCAM utilization, Health Scores, Fault Trend, and SNMP-based Nexus Switch performance is essential to keeping ACI data centers optimal.
