  • 1.  Can my boss invade privacy if I installed Enterprise Protection on my PC?

Hello. I installed Enterprise Protection (not sure if it is Antivirus or Small Business) provided by my boss on my laptop PC used for both work and home. Can my boss invade my privacy when I have Enterprise Protection installed on the laptop? What can the IT people in the organization do to the laptop? What kind of information can they gather using Enterprise Protection? I suppose that they might be able to track websites visited, where I use the laptop, etc? Can they record my passwords to third party accounts such as yahoo and hotmail? How can I completely remove everything related to Enterprise Protection? I still have an unopened copy of Internet Security. I wonder if it is better to uninstall Enterprise Protection and install Internet Security instead. Thank you.

    Hello,

Question Arises WHY are you so afraid?

Is this a Official Laptop or your Personal Laptop?

Symantec Security Softwares are for good and not for bad.

In your Question/ doubt above, it shows you are either more worried installing Enterprise Protection Software or Boss invading your Privacy.

If in case, your Boss wants to invade and find about everything about your Machine, he would have full rights if in case this machine is a Office Laptop.

However, in your case to just clarify you, the Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 is a security software and not a Spy software.

In case, if the boss has provided you a Symantec Enterprise Security Software (Symantec Endpoint Protection 11), of course it costs for the License of that software.

To ensure, you have full control over the software, make sure it is installed as a Self Managed Client, so that he does not have control over the Software and you do.

If this is your personal system, you might want to go with NIS 2011. You will have more control over the program than you would with an unmanaged SEP client.

Relax..No one going to retreive your passwords using Enterprise protection. However your IT dept. can check the sites you visited or programs you have installed. Just to make sure you are not doing anything that is against company policy. However if you do not feel safe with any antivirus you can anytime remove it from Add/Remove programs and install the one of your choice.
